Hawthorne is a borough located in Passaic County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 18,218. The Borough of Hawthorne is governed under the Faulkner Act (Mayor-Council) system of municipal government.

West Orange, New Jersey

West Orange is a township located in Essex County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 44,943. West Orange shares a border with the South Mountain Reservation.

The area that is now West Orange broke from Orange in 1863 as the Township of Fairmount.

Thomas Edison bought a property known as Glenmont in 1886 as a wedding gift for his bride. It occupies 13.5 acres (55,000 m²) in the Llewellyn Park district. The remains of Thomas and Mina Edison are now buried there. Glenmont maintained by the National Park Service as the Edison National Historic Site.

The first ever movie cinema opened in West Orange.
